Deal with your Arachnophobia at arms length with the Spider Catcher. As fun as it can be to squash spiders and other insects, this environmentally-friendly approach will do a better job of it and give you that smug "wouldn't hurt a fly" attitude to boot.

Just imagine the feeling of a spider or moth skittering around on the palm of your closed hand, or the disgusting death-smear left on the wall from an outright assault with a rolled up newspaper. This nifty little gadget eliminates both of those things. The Spider Catcher is basically a long pole with a handle and spiny bristles at the end. Pull the trigger and the bristles open, release the trigger and the bristles close allowing you to capture any wee beasties in your range without damaging them (though we can't be certain that it won't create any long-lasting psychological damage). Take the critter outside and you can release your prey without having to touch it with your hands.

Fantastic for wasps, bees and other stinging insects!

I bought this and it's better than any other insect catcher I have purchased - I would recommend everyone to buy one of these, it's fantastic!

I'm sure everyone has had the experience of discovering a spider or bug on their furniture. Then you have to look around and choose what magazine you are willing to sacrifice to scoop/smash the bug. Well, this solves all that and it keeps the bug alive (and happy!) It's so easy and fun, you'll find yourself LOOKING for bugs!

Every night I would sit on the sofa, jeans tucked into my socks and ensuring the furniture was positioned so I could get out of the door without touching the floor. Then someone bought me a spider catcher as a gift - yeah right, like I was going to go near one of those hairy things. The inevitable happened and I was on my own (the spider knew this by the way), and walked across my carpet as if it owned the place with no fear as it knew I wouldn't go near it. Armed with my weapon I ambushed it near the coffee table; with the flick of a switch I had the spider trapped. Safely and calmly I took him outside (well, with a bit of a trot in my step I hasten to add) - what a brilliant gadget. One request, can you invent one that detects them and catches them when I'm asleep as apparantly research has shown that we eat 8 a year whilst in the land of nod!

What I really love about the Spider Catcher is that it catches our little 8 legged freaky friends, humanely. No longer do I crush them in toilet paper, drown them in bath water or accidentally snap a few legs when covering them with a glass; oh no... now they are safe and sound when I plonk them into the freezing deathly cold temperatures outside... Mmmwwahahahahahah!

I'm absolutely terrified of spiders. I literally shake whenever I see one. I make a big fuss if even the smallest spider invades the room. Goosebumps. Crawling skin. Screaming. Tears. Leaping to the furthest point in the room. It's horrible. So my girlfriend bought me the Spider Catcher and explained it to me. Then I had a bit of a play with the practice spider supplied, but somehow this plastic effigy of evil escaped never to be seen again. Nevertheless, the Spider Catcher seemed like the answer to my prayers! I was itching to catch my first real live spider. Sadly, that was in October, and we haven't had a single spider in our flat since then (or any insects at all for that matter)! So the Spider Catcher has been sitting, pristine, on a shelf since then. I'm still desperate to use it and every night I sit there praying for some foolish arachnid to just try crawling across my carpet.

Funny little gadget! Works well with spiders, endless fun trying to catch flies though, caught a huge bumble bee with it. Comes in handy...

This was a present for my son who is terrified of the little blighters....he is soooo delighted with it and can't wait for a target to appear - now that makes a change!

Absolutely brilliant. Everyone knows I hate spiders so I got two of these for Christmas. Rather than take one back I have one for upstairs and one for downstairs so I will never be at the mercy of horrible spiders again!

It's a bit embarrassing being a grown man and screaming like a little girl when I see a spider. It's so bad I get my 7 year old boy to throw any spiders out. This gadget is perfect for me.

Wow. This is one GREAT tool! I am not scared of the little tiny spiders on the windows and hanging off the ceiling, but boy, do daddy long legs and the great-big-legged-tiddy-bodied arachnids send me into a heart attack!!! This literally answered my prayers, when a friend sent this to me!!!! I like it so much, I literally INVITE the spiders in!!!

Love this spider catcher. Used to hate it when my mum hit flies and stuff with a teatowel and my dad hoovered up spiders, but now I can do it myself: no pain, and loads of gain!
Kim, Rotherham
In going through a mental list of friends to buy the "Spider Catcher" for, one friend springs to mind because of her fear of cockroaches. Has anyone ocasioned to test this life saver on the six legged monsters? Might it require stronger bristles for the fearsome "Palmetto Bugs"?
Mike
Even the movie had me shaking, itching ans sweating! Why show so many of them and using so many different close up camera shots? Its just wrong! lol! The catcher is a godsend (I just wish it also vaporised them so they couldn't possibly crawl back towards the house!) I don't care that its humane but its certainly safer than me screaming hysterically throwing boiling water around! (kills em instantly mwhaahaahaa!)
Claire, Newcastle Upon Tyne
My mum hates spiders so I'm saving up and getting her one of these for Xmas.
Connor, Sunderland
Worked better than I could've ever imagined! ONce the bristles close the spider (big 'un) was docile like a kitten carried by its mummy cat. Open that window, open bristles and off it scuttles, away from you and yours- forever (if it knows what is good for it!!!).
Janaki, London
This is the biz. So easy to use, it doesn't need any practice. Problem was, the toy spider included in the box fell across the table and I nearly died!!! I've waited over 50 years for this tool... why?!
Alison, Ripon
I want one.

This is such a nifty little gadget. Me and my flatmate's girlfriend are always taking the mickey out of him because he is as frightened of spiders as we are. As he is the man of the house it is his job to dispose of them, which used to involve much screaming and hopping about, but no more! I got him this for his birthday and now whenever there is any sort of uninvited beastie in the house he proudly tells us to stand aside as he bravely (and at a safe distance) removes it! Absolutely excellent invention, well done iwoot!
