The Solar Clock follows an age old tradition of using the sun to tell the time, but brings it forward to the 21st century.
Aeons ago time started. No one's quite sure what happened before that but we're led to believe that it wasn't very interesting and it involved a lot of existential angst. Ever since then man has devised a number of devices (can you use devised and devices in the same sentence without looking like you've lost your thesaurus?) that has allowed us to track every passing moment of our lives. Most of them, up until the last 400 years or so, involved a sticking a stick in the ground, waiting for the sun to rise and looking at shadows. Needless to say, once the sun set, the sundial (for that is what they called said stick stuck in ground) became a bit useless - it can't be half past eight for 10 hours, even if you are stuck in traffic.
Instead of using the sun to tell the time by shadow the Solar Clock harnesses the energy of the sun itself to move its second, hour and minute hands, letting you keep time in a green and eco-friendly way.
It can be hung from a wall or popped on a shelf - its monolithic design gives it a sci-fi edge reminiscent of Kubrick's 2001 and it's bound to look cool wherever you choose to set it down in the house. You can even use the extra set of short hands and pop it on its side if you don't like the time looming over you. Make time and save the planet.
